Open a YouTube video to watch together
When an admin sets a YouTube link, a video player opens in participants' chat rooms. In the new skin, the video you set also opens automatically for participants who join later. At first it shows small at the top right, just below the chat room's top bar.
How to use
- With moderator or higher permissions, choose YouTube in the menu or type
!youtube. - Paste a YouTube link into the box. You can also type it directly, like
!youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIDEO_ID. - Play the video in the player that appears.
If you submit an empty link box, the saved video is removed and participants' players close. If you cancel, nothing changes.
XP song requests
In the chat room menu, pick Song request in the XP Shop and enter a YouTube link to add a song request with your usable XP. 200 XP by default.
- Song requests play in the order they arrive, on the same schedule for all participants. When one song ends, the next one starts.
- Videos longer than the Maximum request length (10 minutes by default) the room owner sets on the Settings tab play only up to that length.
- The queue holds up to 20 songs, and each person can have up to 2 songs in it at once. Each person can request once every 30 seconds.
- In Song requests on the toolbar, you can skip or cancel songs (moderators and above, or the person who requested it). If a moderator removes someone else's song before it starts, the XP is refunded. Canceling your own song or skipping a song that's playing is not refunded.
Player controls
- Move: Drag the YouTube top bar to move the player anywhere inside the chat room.
- Resize: Drag an edge or corner. The video keeps its aspect ratio.
- Expand / Shrink: View it large inside the chat room, or go back to the previous size and position.
- Collapse / Unfold: Hide the video and leave only the top bar, or show it again. Playback continues while collapsed.
- Close for all: With moderator or higher permissions, press Close YouTube for everyone at the top of the player or in the menu and confirm. The saved video is removed and every participant's player closes.
- ×: Closes the video on your screen.
Moving and resizing apply only to your screen, and the video doesn't restart from the beginning while you adjust it.
Good to know
Old skins only support opening and closing the video. Saving the shared state and Close for all are available only in the new skin.
Playback position, pause and volume are not synced. Everyone gets the same video and controls their own player.
The video may not play because of embedding restrictions or login, age or region limits. If the link isn't recognized, use the share link of a regular video.
