# Admin features at a glance

> A short developer-oriented summary of the admin page menus and the admin commands used inside the chat room.

You configure the chat room on the [admin page](/manage) and manage people inside the chat room. This page collects only the locations and commands you need to know while developing.

## Admin page {#manage-page}

The menus are grouped in this order: Basics, Settings, Operations, Security. **Paid** marks features you can save and use only in paid chat rooms (the screens still appear in free chat rooms).

| --- | --- | --- |
| Basics | Chat room info | Check the member integration token, set the admin password and entry password |
| Basics | Plan & billing | Check your paid period and pay |
| Basics | Install code | Install code, member integration code, size, code for each framework and CMS → [5-minute setup](/en/doc/1.2) |

| Operations | Notices | Entry notice, pinned notices, auto notices |
| Operations | Notifications | Get room events such as reports, bans and joins in the alrim app, by webhook or by email, with a delivery log and daily reports. Free rooms get report, admin call and appeal alerts through alrim (the rest is paid) |
| Operations | Polls | Chat room polls (Paid) |
| Security | Chat filter | Word filter (masks banned words), AI filter (Paid), watch words (Paid) |
| Security | Reports & sanctions | Report list and automatic handling rules, AI judge (Paid) verdict log, mute and ban lists and lifting them, sanction log |
| Danger zone | Delete chat room | Deletes the chat room and all its settings. This cannot be undone |

Automatic notices can use a time interval, a message count, or whichever condition is reached first. A minimum message count for timed notices skips quiet intervals. Whenever a notice is sent by either condition, its message count resets to zero.

IP-based permissions accept IPv4 and IPv6 addresses. Bans and mutes also accept IPv4 wildcards (`192.0.2.*`) and IPv6 ranges (`2001:db8::/64`).

In **Advanced settings → IPv6 ban range**, choose the range for this room's IP bans and mutes. The default is subnet matching (`/64`); you can also choose an exact address (`/128`), `/56` or `/48`. A smaller number covers a wider range. Records keep full addresses, and saving the setting applies the new range to existing sanctions too. Entries with an explicit range keep that range. Other people on the same subnet may also be affected. ID, session and IPv4 matching are unchanged.

Use tokens and API keys only on your server. Don't put them in page HTML or scripts ([Security checklist](/en/doc/2.6)).

## Managing inside the chat room {#in-room}

Admins and moderators can mute, ban, view IPs, and delete messages from the menu that opens when you click a nickname. Only admins can make someone a moderator. In a chat room without member integration, type `/login adminpassword` in the chat window to become an admin. Chat rooms with member integration can't use `/login`, so set admins through the permission (`auth`) in the member integration data or in **Permissions**.

| Command | Permission | What it does |
| --- | --- | --- |
| `/login password` | Anyone | Become an admin with the admin password (except in member integration chat rooms) |
| `/logout` | Admin | Give up admin rights |
| `/adminpage` | Admin | Open the admin page |
| `/op nickname`, `/deop nickname` | Admin | Make or remove a moderator |
| `/mute nickname minutes` | Moderator and above | Mute |
| `/unmute nickname` | Moderator and above | Unmute |
| `/ban nickname reason` | Moderator and above | IP ban |
| `/info nickname`, `/ip nickname` | Moderator and above | View user info and IP. Only for users with the same or lower permission than yours. Anyone can use `/info mynickname` |
| `/notice message` | Moderator and above | Send a notice message |
| `/freeze`, `/unfreeze` | Moderator and above | Freeze or unfreeze the chat room (while frozen, only moderators and above can talk) |
| `/slow seconds` | Moderator and above | Set the slow mode interval (0–3600 seconds, `0` turns it off) |
| `/clearlog` | Moderator and above | Clear the conversation on everyone's screen (regular users clear only their own screen) |

You can mute only users with lower permission than yours, and ban only members and guests. Type `/?` in the chat window to see every command available at your current permission.

## Commands anyone can use {#commands}

| Command | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `/w nickname message` | Whisper (`/ㅈ`) |
| `/r message` | Reply to your last whisper partner (`/ㄱ`) |
| `/nick nickname` | Change nickname (except in member integration chat rooms) |
| `/call nickname` | Call |
| `/ignore nickname`, `/unignore nickname` | Ignore and stop ignoring |
| `/report nickname reason` | Report |
| `/invite nickname` | Invite to private channel |
| `/slow` | Check slow mode status |

Some commands may be blocked depending on chat room settings and **Feature conditions**.

## Sending commands from a script {#from-script}

You can send the same commands from a page script with `room.action.command(command, ...args)`. The server checks permissions, so without permission you get an error event. `slow` returns its result as a `control` event (`type: 'roomOptionsResult'`) instead of an error event, and without permission the `status` in the result JSON is `forbidden`.

`/w`, `/r`, and `/nick` are chat window aliases that the skin translates. In scripts, use `command('whisper', nickname, message)` and `command('changeInfo', { nick: nickname })`.

```js
U.chat('my-room').on('after.join#notice-demo', function (room) {
	if (room.my.auth >= 2) room.action.command('notice', 'Maintenance starts at 6 PM.');
});
```

For arguments and return values, see [U.chat() and the room object](/en/doc/3.2).
